Ms. Kyrie Arceneaux, a math teacher at St. James High School has been educating students for 13 years, having spent them all in St. James Parish Schools.
Ms. Arceneaux says she was inspired to teach in St. James Parish Schools because she wanted to give back to the district that gave so much to her as a student. She mentions that she was taken care of and loved by many teachers, which inspired her to want to continue that for the next generation.
She says that her favorite part of the job is that she loves helping students. She says that she loves reassuring students that they can grasp difficult concepts, which she says is very rewarding to watch them grow both in the classroom and in real life. She mentions that she sponsor’s the Beta Club at SJH and she loves giving students the opportunity travel and compete with other students as well as teaching them to work together with the community and to lead and serve others. She says that many of these opportunities are first experiences for many of her students. She says it is a privilege to recognize the seniors who have worked so hard to earn cords for their graduation.
Ms. Arceneaux says that her advice to new teachers is that “Teamwork makes the dream work.” She adds to, “get yourself someone that you can trust and rely on as a mentor and a partner. In my time at St. James High School, I have been blessed to be part of a wonderful team of teachers.”
She says, “St. James Parish Schools is a wonderful place to work because this place is a community. You are cared about. Your voice is heard, your hard work is recognized, and you are supported.”
