Ms. Christina LeCompte, a fourth grade math and science teacher at Sixth Ward Elementary School is entering her 12th year as an educator with eight of them here in St. James Parish Schools.
Originally from Vacherie, Ms. LeCompte says she came to teach in St. James Parish Schools in order to make a difference in the local community through education. Ms. LeCompte enjoys building relationships with her students each and every school year.
She says to new teachers, “the ride gets rough at times, so buckle up; but it is so rewarding and worth it to see the progress students make over the course of each school year.”
Ms. LeCompte believes St. James Parish Schools is special because when you are here, “you feel like you’re at home, like a family.” She mentions that the community and the school system work hand-in-hand and teachers and families are supportive of one another.
