Niran Jackson, a senior at St. James High School, was chosen to attend NUCOR’s Tech Academy after graduation.
This two-year program will bring Niran to Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he will receive full tuition, housing, and books. Once finished with the academy, Niran will receive an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Industrial Electronics Technology, and he will be given full opportunity to become a teammate at NUCOR.
As a young child, Niran dreamed of becoming an NFL player.
Now, his dream takes him on a different path, but one in which
he can be just as successful. Niran mentions, “The better your education is, the better your opportunities are in the workforce.” He hopes to continue that education after completing NUCOR’s Tech Academy by pursuing his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

When asked what he would like to achieve through this opportunity, Niran says he wants to maintain a 3.5 GPA
and he wishes to be “one of the best candidates to come out of this program.”
Superintendent Kimball and St. James Parish Schools thank NUCOR for its continued support of our students and
our schools throughout the district. Without business and industry support like this, students wouldn’t have access
to opportunities such as this one.
